Starting OWL
So here we go - today I'll go up to 25g carbs a day, and we shall see how it goes.
Hoping this all works!

Re: Starting OWL
Good luck!
The extra veggies are so filling, I had trouble eating enought of them!!I've been an "OWL" since February and even tho I almost never go over 35 carbs, the variety is wonderful! I'm a slow-but-steady type loser, so my critical carb level may be lower than many but the plan is still very satisfying! Hopefully you will be able to add a rung a week and still keep losing! Toni |

Re: Starting OWL
I need to dig my book out and read this section-I have slowly been adding carbs into my eating-more veggies, and (gasp!) popcorn, and berries-I'm still losing.

Re: Starting OWL
Lady Daraine,
After your first week as an OWL, do you give a "hoot" to tell us your progress, or do we have to have a little "birdie" tell us how "wise" you were to add them in at this time? Sorry...the "OWL imagery thing" took over my better judgment! Is it going OK for you? I slowed down to a snail, but steady and surely I lost, even at 30...but just 1/2 pound per week average. It was worth it, though, to enjoy some more goodies like cottage cheese, lower sugar fruit, nuts, an occasional low-carb tortilla, etc. Hope you are in the majority who can add the rungs and not stall out. Some of us take a little longer, but eventually, it all works out! Good luck! Toni |

Re: Starting OWL
I honestly have no idea how it worked out - my TOM came and I have bloated terribly. I won't even weigh in again until Saturday because I got so mad when I saw all that extra weight (even though I know full well why!)
Yesterday I was craving chocolate like you wouldn't believe (this is the only time I do) so I got some SF Reeses PB cups. I had a single serving. Later, I had a craving again, so I had two of the Atkins Caramel crunch chocolate covered bars. So all in all, 5 net carbs of cheat (as long as the fake sugars don't throw me off). I figured even a stall is better than an all-out cheat! I'll post again to once I have a better idea of how this is going!

Re: Starting OWL
Good luck...when this is over with, you'll get into it.
I found Induction to be easier than OWL, until you get used to not losing as fast. Then I loved the variety and I'll probably have to "eat like an OWL" for the rest of my life, at my age and activity level. Since I like everything about this WOE, there's hope... Toni |
